9 Core Feelings from Bio-Emotive Framework
People employed in the education field are facing astounding rates of burnout, fatigue, chronic anxiety/depression, health issues, and a loss of joy in their work.
Tasked with the difficult role of attending to learner's academic and increasing mental health needs in large and diverse classrooms, the struggle to maintain balance between work, family, and rest is taking its toll on their health and wellbeing of educators.
In addition, we explore how to weave these practices into the classroom so that both educators and learners can develop resiliency, emotional literacy, and co-regulation skills that will help them lead a healthy lifestyle.
Professional Development Workshops
The ELM works in collaboration with Schools and School Divisions to tailor programming to meet the needs of the community.
Foundations of Emotional Literacy
This foundational signature workshop can be adapted for students as well as staff.
In this interactive full-day workshop participants will learn about the anatomy of our emotions and how they have developed as an evolutionary tool to ensure our survival. We will dive into the science behind our nervous system responses and how these responses impact our ability to learn, solve problems, and connect with others. Through this knowledge, we will learn to identify states of emotional activation and collapse and work with these states to nurture resiliency, confidence, and self-regulation strategies.

Emotional First Aid: Administering CPR (Compassion, Presence, & Reflection™)
Supporting the development of strong communication skills contributes to increased confidence, healthy relationships and the reduction of stress, anxiety and depression.
CPR (Compassion, Presence & Reflection) is a tool developed by ELM and used in our Wholehearted Leaders Program to support the development of healthy communication skills and cultivate a language around emotions. Participants will learn how to support their students as they learn to identify and voice their needs, set boundaries, communicate kindly and assertively, and solve problems. Topics to cover include; signs that a conversation is needed, keeping conversations safe, setting a container for hard conversations, and communicating with understanding.
This tool will revolutionize your classroom and all aspects of your life!

Walking with the Medicine Wheel
Walking with the Medicine Wheel combines our signature Foundations of Emotional Literacy workshop with the teachings of the Medicine Wheel as a tool for self-development.
The Medicine Wheel teaches us that in order to become self-actualized human beings, we must strive to find balance in the four aspects of self (emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual), as represented by the four quadrants of the Medicine Wheel.
*This workshop is best done over the course of two consecutive days and may be adapted for both staff and students.

Neuroscience and Attachment Theory show us that children learn to self-regulate by co-regulating to the adults caring for them, demonstrating how essential healthy educators, educational assistants, and administrators are to the overall wellbeing of our society.
